Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). As a Transportation Security Officer (TSO), you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

• Location: Lawton-Ft. Sill Regional Airport, Lawton, OK
• Flight Schedule: 14 hours a day, seven days per week
• Peak Times: Thursday through Monday:
  • 5 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
  • 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
• Screening Operations: Inside terminal; may not be temperature controlled.

Work Schedules

• Shifts: Based on operational needs; may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Flexibility: Virtually no flexibility due to the nature of the job. Specific shifts assigned post-training.

Current Part-Time Positions

• Hours: 20 hours per week
• Schedule: Four (4) days of five (5) hours per day.
• Shifts: Morning, afternoon, and evening.

Sign-On Bonus

This location is not offering a sign-on bonus at this time. Recruitment Incentive amount is subject to change.

Commuter Details

• Onsite parking available for a one-time swipe card fee of $25.00.
• Public transportation to the airport is not available.
• No transportation subsidies offered.

Promotional Potential

Path to a potential up to a 67% increase from starting base salary over five years, in addition to federal-wide pay increases.

Dual Federal Employment

TSA’s policy limits an employee’s ability to work for multiple federal agencies. Consult with HR for more information.

Travel and Training Requirements

Employment contingent upon successfully completing required training, which may include up to six weeks of travel in full-time duty status.

Dress Code

Uniforms provided; specific restrictions on accessories and grooming while in uniform.
