Job Overview: Transportation Security Officer
Thank you for your interest in employment with TSA. If selected for the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.
Local Airport Details
- Location: Rochester International Airport, Rochester, MN
- Flight Schedule: 14 hours per day, seven days per week
- Peak Times:
- Monday through Sunday: 6 a.m. – 8 a.m.
- 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.
- Screening Operations: Inside the terminal, may not be temperature controlled.
Work Schedules
TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays. Due to the nature of the job, virtually no flexibility is offered to accommodate personal commitments.
- Part-Time Positions:
- 25 hours per week
- Five (5) days, five (5) hours per day
- Current part-time hours: Morning, afternoon, or evening shifts
Sign-On Bonus
This location is not offering a sign-on bonus at this time.

Commuter Details
- Onsite Parking: Available for $10.00/month or $90.00 discounted annually.
- Public Transportation: Not available.
- Transportation Subsidies: Not offered at RST.

Promotional Potential
New officers have a path to a 67% increase from the starting base salary over 5 years, in addition to any federal-wide pay increases or changes to locality pay.
Travel and Training Requirements
Employment is contingent upon successfully completing required training, which may require travel in a full-time duty status for a minimum of three (3) weeks.
