Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). If you successfully complete the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.

Local Airport Details

• Airport: Long Island MacArthur Airport, Ronkonkoma, NY
• Peak Times: Monday through Sunday, 4 a.m. – 9 p.m.
• Shifts: Morning, afternoon, and evening shifts. Screening operations may or may not be temperature controlled.

Work Schedules

TSO work schedules are based on the operational needs of the airport and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.

• Part-Time Positions:
  • 20 hours per week
  • Five (5) days of four (4) hours per day
  • Early, late, and weekend work hours may be required.

Promotional Potential

• Onsite parking is available for TSA employees free of charge.
• Public transportation to the airport is available but with limited schedules.
• Subsidies for transportation are offered at ISP.

Dress Code

TSO uniforms are provided to employees. There are restrictions on certain accessories and grooming while in uniform.

Additional Information

If you are on active duty military service, you must either be discharged or on terminal leave pending separation prior to beginning employment with TSA.
