Transportation Security Officer Job Overview

Thank you for your interest in employment with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). As a Transportation Security Officer (TSO), you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission. This fact sheet highlights some unique operational requirements and our compensation plan.

Local Airport Details

• Airport: Long Beach Daugherty Field Airport, Long Beach, CA
• Operational Hours: Monday through Sunday, 4:30 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.
• Screening Operations: Located inside the terminal; temperature control may not be guaranteed.

Work Schedules

• TSO work schedules are based on operational needs and may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Specific shifts are assigned after successful completion of training and may be adjusted to meet changing operational needs.
• TSA employees are considered emergency personnel and are expected to report for duty during inclement weather.

Part-time Positions: 20 hours per week, five (5) days of four (4) hours per day with morning, afternoon, and evening shifts.
