Transportation Security Officer Job Overview
Thank you for your interest in employment with the TSA. If you successfully complete the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) candidate evaluation process and are selected for a position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission.
Local Airport Details
- Airport: Yeager Airport, Charleston, WV
- Flight Schedule: 20 hours a day, seven days per week
- Peak Times: Monday through Sunday, 5 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
- Screening Operations: Located inside the terminal; temperature control may vary.
Work Schedules
TSO work schedules are based on operational needs, including non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays. Flexibility is limited to accommodate personal commitments. Specific shifts are assigned after training and may be subject to change.
CRW is currently assessing candidates for part-time positions. Available shifts include variable part-time hours per week with five days of variable hours per day.
Sign-On Bonus
Currently, this location is not offering a sign-on bonus.
Commuter Details
- Onsite parking is available for TSA employees at no charge.
- Public transportation is not available; transportation subsidies are not offered.

Promotional Potential
New officers have a pathway to achieve up to a 67% pay increase from the starting base salary over five years, in addition to any federal-wide pay increases.
Travel and Training Requirements
Employment is contingent upon successfully completing required training. This may include up to six weeks of full-time duty status travel. Training varies by duty location.
Dress Code
TSO uniforms are provided. There are restrictions on certain accessories and grooming while in uniform.
