Thank you for your interest in employment with TSA. If selected for the Transportation Security Officer (TSO) position, you will play a vital role in supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission. Below are details about operational requirements and benefits.
Local Airport Details
Located at Pensacola International Airport, Pensacola, FL, we maintain an 18-hour flight schedule, seven days a week. Peak screening times are:
- Monday through Sunday:
- 5 a.m. – 7 a.m.
- 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.
- 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Work Schedules
TSO schedules are based on airport operational needs, which may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays. Flexibility is limited, as specific shifts are assigned after training, with periodic adjustments based on evolving needs. TSA employees are considered emergency personnel and must report for duty during inclement weather.

- Part-time: 20 hours per week (morning and afternoon shifts)
Compensation
Sign-On Bonus: Currently, no sign-on bonus is offered at this location. Recruitment incentive amounts are subject to change.

Promotional Potential
TSOs have a path to increase their base salary by up to 67% over five years, along with any federal pay adjustments.
Travel and Training Requirements
Employment is contingent upon successfully completing required classroom and on-the-job training. A minimum of three weeks of travel in full-time duty status is required for the New Hire training, which may take up to six weeks at different locations.
Dress Code
Uniforms are provided, with restrictions on certain accessories and grooming while in uniform.
