Transportation Security Officer (TSO) Job Overview

Thank you for considering a career with TSA. As a Transportation Security Officer, you will be a crucial part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission. Below are important details about the operational requirements and compensation plan.

Local Airport Details

• Location: The Eastern Iowa Airport, Cedar Rapids, IA
• Flight Schedule: 17 hours a day, seven days a week
• Peak Times:
  • 3:45 a.m. – 6:00 a.m.
  • 12:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Work Schedules

• Shifts: Based on airport operational needs, may include non-traditional shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Flexibility: Limited flexibility is available for personal commitments. Specific shifts are assigned after training and may change due to operational needs.

Employment Opportunities

• Positions: Full-time and part-time available
• Part-time shifts: 25 hours/week, five days of five hours each during morning, afternoon, and evening shifts.

Sign-On Bonus

TSA is currently offering a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 for this duty location, paid in two installments during the first 12 months of service.
