Job Description

Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assigns and supervises daily tasks for avionics technicians.
  • Mentors and trains junior technicians, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and excellence.
  • Conducts shift briefings and coordinates workload to ensure efficient execution of maintenance tasks.
  • Performs advanced troubleshooting, inspection, repair, and installation of avionics and electrical systems including communication, navigation, radar, autopilot, and entertainment systems.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Ensures all work is performed in compliance with FAA regulations, OEM specifications, and company policies.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and FAA inspection and documentation requirements.
  • Conducts quality checks and signs off work to ensure airworthiness standards are met.
  • Coordinates with Maintenance Control, Engineering, and Quality Assurance departments.
  • Interacts with customers or inspectors as needed to address avionics-related concerns.
  • Review technical documentation including work orders, wiring diagrams, and service bulletins.
  • Installs and functionally tests electrical/avionics components and systems on aircraft per engineering specifications and drawings to ensure a defect free system; Submits work for inspection & approval.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs systems using acceptable practices including splicing, soldering, and wire termination.
  • Assists other Line and Install Technicians in the aircraft as required.
  • Use the Corridor system to enter daily labor against correct Work Order and item numbers.
  • Reviews work, including forms and records, to ensure compliance with Inspection Procedures Manual, Operating Procedures and FAA regulations.
  • Supervise, guide, and mentor avionics technicians performing maintenance and installations on aircraft systems (navigation, communication, flight control, etc.).
  • Coordinate daily work schedules to meet production timelines and quality standards.
  • Conduct inspections, functional tests, and troubleshooting on complex avionics systems.
  • Interface with engineering, quality assurance, and planning teams to resolve discrepancies and support continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and ensure timely completion of required documentation.
  • Lead or participate in root cause analysis for avionics-related issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide training and technical guidance to team members; support onboarding of new technicians.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Education & Experience:

  • Avionics training at a technical school or equivalent experience required.
  • FCC or A&P license preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical school training preferred.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) or Repairman Certificate preferred.
  • FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in avionics maintenance, with 1–2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Experience working with general aviation, commercial, or military aircraft.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Occasional periods of walking, sitting, rotation, bending, pushing, pulling, and reaching. Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs, and frequently lifting up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

  • Frequent exposure to general shop conditions, engine noise.
  • Frequent exposure to aircraft exhaust, moving mechanical parts, lubricants, metals, and solvents.
  • Frequent exposure to seasonal weather.
