Job Description
Universal Flight Training, a premier aviation training provider based in Sarasota, Florida, is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Director of Maintenance to lead our maintenance operations. The ideal candidate will bring at least 6 years of general aviation experience, hold a valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license with Inspection Authorization (IA), and have a clean FAA violation history. Experience with Cirrus aircraft is strongly preferred. This role requires a proactive leader with outstanding technical skills, customer service orientation, and a commitment to safety and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and supervise all aircraft maintenance operations in accordance with FAA regulations and company standards.
- Oversee maintenance schedules, inspections, and aircraft records to ensure maximum safety and availability.
- Lead and develop a high-performing maintenance team, fostering a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the FAA, vendors, aircraft owners, and internal departments.
- Ensure all Universal Flight Training aircraft are maintained to the highest standard, with a special emphasis on Cirrus Aircraft.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues in a timely, cost-effective manner.
- Maintain accurate documentation and regulatory compliance, including AD research, service bulletins, and maintenance logs.
- Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with students, instructors, and staff, providing clear updates and maintaining a customer-first approach.
- Coordinate with operations staff to minimize downtime and schedule aircraft availability effectively.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 6 years of general aviation maintenance experience.
- Valid FAA A&P certification and current Inspection Authorization (IA).
- No history of FAA violations.
- Strong preference for hands-on experience with Cirrus Aircraft, including G5/G6 models.
- Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role in a maintenance environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Strong customer service mindset and ability to interface professionally with clients and staff.
- Proficiency with maintenance tracking software and digital documentation platforms.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support flight training schedules.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,420.00 - $65,268.00 per year
