JOB DESCRIPTION: AIRCRAFT TECHNICAL FLEET MANAGER FLSA STAUS: EXEMPT REPORT TO: VICE PRESIDENT OF TECHNICAL OPERATIONS, DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE LOCATION: Dallas, Texas Surf Air Mobility/Southern Airways/Mokulele is seeking an experienced Aircraft Technical Fleet Manager for our Cessna C208 Caravan fleet. The Aircraft Technical Fleet Manager will serve as subject matter expert relating to all technical and maintenance aspects of the Caravan fleet. It is expected that the Aircraft Technical Fleet Manager is a self-starter, acts with great integrity, and consistently strives to improve processes – all while maintaining the highest of standards for professionalism and leadership of self. The ideal candidate: Must exhibit strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively communicate and plan for operational needs. Must be agile and highly collaborative with a focus on teamwork and partnership. Serves as the liaison to the corporate headquarters. Must be familiar with and able to enforce corporate and regulatory standards. Has excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be professional in appearance and manner and set a good example for staff. Must be experienced in diffusing stressful situations. Must be detail oriented. General duties include: The Aircraft Technical Fleet Manager will serve as a technical/maintenance subject matter expert on the C208 Caravan fleet to support Maintenance Control, Materials, Engineering, Reliability, CASS, and Flight Operations. Develop, coordinate, and provide resolution for immediate, repetitive, and emerging technical issues on the C208 Caravan fleet. Acting as focal company interface with MRO performing special projects and heavy maintenance events, overseeing all facets of quality, production, and financial performance Function as the primary technical support and interface for airframe maintenance vendors through in accordance with company and OEM maintenance programs. Responsible for Airworthiness Directive program for the C208 Caravan fleet. Lead and support all technical aspects of aircraft lease/acquisition acceptances and returns. Support the Technical Operations in forecasting and managing the department budget through forward- looking planning and active cost control. Conduct vendor audit in accordance with company’s quality assurance program. Assume primary liaison role within the company in technical matters relating to the Caravan C208 fleet interacting with other functional groups such as planning, supply chain, quality control, engineering, etc. Review and reconcile financial invoices and pursue cost savings opportunities for as directed by management. Developing, implementing, and monitoring the C208 Caravan maintenance program with a focus on reliability improvement, increasing aircraft availability, and champion beneficial aircraft and equipment upgrades/modernization. Perform On-The-Job technical training on the C208 Caravan fleet in accordance with approved maintenance practices, company policies, safety procedures and general information where required. Participate in industry conferences and workshops. Support special projects as assigned by VP of Technical Operations Minimum Qualifications: FAA Airframe and Powerplant license Minimum of 3 years of technical knowledge of the C208 Caravan aircraft Minimum of 3 years of program management experience in a Part 121/135/145 operation Familiarity of aircraft maintenance and inspection programs Prior supervisory/management experience High school diploma or equivalent Proficient in computer skills such as Microsoft Office suite and Google suite Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation Is at least 21 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States Ability to read, write and speak English effectively Ability to work within a 24/7 operation including holidays Ability to pass 10-year background check and pre-employment drug screen as required by company and/or airline regulations Available for occasional overnight travel Current passport Physical requirements: Must be comfortable lifting/moving 70lbs. Must have physical dexterity sufficient to perform repetitive tasks and motions, including bending at the waist and knees, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting, and sustaining those positions for extended amounts of time. Must have sufficient vision and ability to safely perform duties. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide technical expertise and recommendations to various support groups of the control center which include fleet reliability and maintenance planning Oversee coordination of maintenance activities for scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance as well as follow-up procedures for delays and cancellations. In addition, this role provides support and advises department management in tactics and strategies as well as stand in for the Operations Manager when they require it. Works with OE/ME/IEs to ensure Work Plans, Work Orders, and Work Instructions are correct, and supports changes to the work order as needed for changes to installations or processes. Responsible for coordination and execution of any out-of-station work in a way that minimizes the impact on the customer. Responsible for reducing and eliminating out-of-station carry over work through process improvements. Oversees and coordinates the Delegated Inspection Program within assigned department in order to obtain inspection stamps for technicians . Assigns and coordinates all work tasks to ensure a smooth workflow by working directly with coordinators, mechanics/technicians, quality, engineering, materials, and planning. Oversees all work to ensure compliance with relevant specifications and released data. Leads continuous safety program and maintenance of 6S standards. Reviews daily job charging to ensure accuracy of input. Provides recommendations on EPR evaluations. Additional Functions: Knowledgeable and maintains current aircraft status information, and present to management as required. . In support of aircraft certification ensures all documentation is retained and First Article Inspections (FAI) are coordinated through the certification office and Quality. . Ensures compliance with High Risk Task procedures including making sure JRA/JSAs are up to date and available. . Reviews all quality discrepancies to ensure they have been properly addressed and trended items reported. . Works with materials dispatchers/purchasing to ensure availability of parts/components/materials. . Other Requirements: Preferred proficiency, or demonstrated ability to become proficient, in the operation and troubleshooting of other aircraft systems or disciplines other than avionics, such as Hydraulics, Landing Gear, Flight Controls, Environmental Controls or Structural Installations and Repairs. Knowledge of Solumina and Smarteam preferred. Strong written and verbal communications skills. Ability to read and interpret travelers, maintenance manuals, engineering orders, and blueprints.
