We are seeking a skilled Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic to maintain our fleet and ensure the highest standards of safety and performance for our world-class doors-off experience. Job Summary The MD500 Helicopter A&P Mechanic will be responsible for performing maintenance, inspections, repairs, and alterations on our MD500 helicopter fleet. This role requires expertise in turbine-powered helicopters, a strong understanding of FAA regulations, and a commitment to safety. Key Responsibilities * *Maintenance and Repairs:* * Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on MD500 helicopters, including airframe, powerplant, and associated systems. * Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and avionics issues to ensure aircraft airworthiness. * Conduct detailed inspections in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and FAA regulations. * *Safety and Compliance:* * Ensure all maintenance activities comply with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and Magnum Helicopters’ safety protocols. * Maintain accurate maintenance records, logbooks, and documentation for each aircraft. * Collaborate with the Director of Maintenance to implement safety and quality assurance procedures. * *Fleet Support:* * Assist with pre-flight and post-flight inspections to ensure aircraft are tour-ready. * Support weight and balance calculations and adjustments for safe doors-off operations. * Coordinate with pilots and ground crew to address operational needs and resolve issues promptly. * *Inventory and Tools:* * Manage inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies to support maintenance operations. * Maintain and organize personal and company-provided tools for efficient workflow. Qualifications * *Required Skills and Experience:* * Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate. * Minimum of 3 years of experience as a helicopter mechanic, with specific experience on MD500 series helicopters. * Strong knowledge of turbine-powered helicopter systems, including Rolls-Royce 250-C20B engines. * Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and avionics systems. * Ability to read and interpret schematics, maintenance manuals, and technical documentation. * Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds, work on ladders or scaffolding, and maneuver in confined spaces. * Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety standards. * *Preferred Qualifications:* * Factory training or certification on MD500 helicopters. * Experience with doors-off helicopter operations or tour-related maintenance. * Familiarity with aviation maintenance software for record-keeping. * Previous experience in a Part 135 or tour operator environment. The *Restoration Shop Machinist / Sheetmetal Technician *reports to the Restoration Shop Manager (as immediate supervisor) and the Director of Exhibits, Restoration & Curatorial Services (Director of ERCSI). The Restoration Shop Machinist/Sheetmetal Technician performs and supervises volunteers, working on restoration of aircraft new to the Museum’s aircraft collection. The Restoration Shop Machinist/Sheetmetal Technician performs the high-level maintenance and physical care of the Museum’s aircraft collection. This position works with the Restoration Shop staff and the skilled Restoration Shop volunteer group, who are dedicated to the structural and cosmetic restoration, refurbishment and display maintenance of all Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum aircraft and other large artifacts. *Key Responsibilities:* * Assists the Restoration Shop Manager in the maintenance of the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum’s aircraft collection, including but not limited to aircraft structural repair, painting, tire and wheel replacement and repair, loading, and unloading of aircraft from trucks, assembly and disassembly of aircraft, aircraft towing and parking, general cleaning, and maintenance of aircraft on display both indoors and outdoors. * Supports the work schedule for the Restoration Shop. * Attends and participates in weekly ERCSI meetings. * Assists the Restoration Manager in maintaining the Museum’s compliance with ADOSH, OSHA, ADEQ, PDEQ and other applicable regulations, by completing regularly scheduled inspections per established schedules and as needed. Assists in maintaining required regulatory documentation. * Assists the Restoration Shop Manager in ensuring compliance with all OSHA, EPA, ADEQ, and other safety and waste handling regulations daily. * Performs safe and proper maintenance of shop’s equipment and tools used. * Assists the Restoration Shop Manager in ensuring equipment and tools are returned to appropriate storage areas upon task completion and/or by end of shift. * Assists the Restoration Shop Manager in ensuring appropriate removal, handling, and disposal of items per outlined procedures in the MSDS and/or safety protocol. * Assists the Restoration Shop Manager with recording all maintenance timetables and records * Assists the other departments of ERCSI and the Museum, as assigned by the Director of ERCSI * Special projects and other duties as requested, directed, or assigned. *Responsibilities include:* * Assists the Restoration Shop Manager in ensuring the safety of the Restoration Staff and Volunteers assigned to the Restoration Shop. * Assists the Restoration Shop Manager in maintaining the shop schedule. * Responsible for keeping abreast of all ADOSH, OSHA, ADEQ, PDEQ, and other applicable regulatory compliance. * Responsible for timely reporting of safety concerns and violations to designated staff member per museum and shop procedure, including security. * Responsible for paying close attention to assigned tasks, finishing tasks as directed. * Responsible for being familiar with all areas of the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum to enable quick safety response and render assistance as appropriate in case of emergencies or personal injuries. * Responsible for following safety protocol including but not limited to familiarity with MSDS usage and locations. * Responsible for interacting with all museum guests, employees, and volunteers in a friendly and professional manner. * Responsible for advising the Restoration Shop Manager in ordering supplies (paint, metal, general shop supplies) as needed. *Supervision/Authority:* * Authority to supervise the Restoration Shop volunteers as directed by the Restoration Manager or the ERCSI Director. * Authority to resolve emergency and urgent situations, and items within designated scope of work— notifying immediately and deferring to direction of higher authority. * Authority to safely utilize the Museum’s resources for its intended purpose, including but not limited to: * o Power and hand tools * o Motorized and electric vehicle * o Chemicals, including but not limited to paint, solvents, and oils. * o Comply and assist with the active certification and/or training as appropriate, operates the Man Lift, Forklift, scissor lift, fall safety protection, and other equipment as required *Qualifications and Requirements:* * Minimum, High School Diploma or GED equivalent AND at least 2 years’ experience in general light industrial fabrication, or paint and body shop experience with supervisory duties; OR the equivalent combination of experience and/or education and training. Initiate, execute and sign forms, tags, and other paperwork in accordance with the appropriate maintenance manuals. Review all paperwork for completeness and signatures. Responsible for supervising and directing the work of Mechanics and other personnel assigned to his section and is a working member of the group. 3. Responsible for supervising the repair, servicing and maintenance of aircraft systems, powerplants, airframe, avionics and components. 4. Accountable for the general up keep of ground equipment in support of all Line Maintenance activities under his/her supervision. 5. Accountable for production and assistance in interpretation and resolution of aircraft discrepancies. 6. Responsible for giving instruction and training to employees of any classification except Inspectors. 7. Ensures proper distribution of manpower for work performance efficiency. 8. Responsible to conduct on-the-job training (OJT) of personnel in his/her area of responsibility. 9. Makes certain that all safety and accident prevention measures are followed and corrected action taken as warranted. 10. Performs all duties and special assignments as directed by the Supervisor – Line Maintenance or Maintenance Management personnel.
