Job Title: PT6A Hot Section Technician

Department: Engine Maintenance & Overhaul

Reports To: Lead Mechanic / Shop Supervisor

Location: Prattville, AL

Job Type: Full-Time

Position Summary:

The PT6A Hot Section Technician is responsible for disassembling, inspecting, repairing, and reassembling the hot section components of Pratt & Whitney PT6A turboprop engines in accordance with OEM specifications and FAA regulations. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of turbine engine operation and maintenance procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Disassemble hot section modules including compressor turbine, power turbine, CT shroud segments, and combustion components.
  • Inspect parts for wear, cracks, corrosion, or damage using precision tools and non-destructive testing methods.
  • Perform dimensional checks, blend minor defects, and recommend parts for repair or replacement based on findings.
  • Clean components using approved methods and prepare for inspection or reassembly.
  • Reassemble hot section components to OEM tolerances, ensuring proper fit, torque, and alignment.
  • Record all inspection findings, repair actions, and parts used in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineers or quality control to determine serviceability of parts and compliance with technical directives.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety protocols.
  • Assist in engine teardown or final assembly as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience working on PT6A engines, specifically hot section inspection and repairs.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license preferred but not mandatory.
  • In-depth knowledge of PT6A engine models and hot section components.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and service bulletins.
  • Proficient with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, borescopes, etc.).
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Job Type: Full-time

Expected hours: 40 per week

Experience:

  • PT6A engine: 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:
