Schedule: Full-time (Exact hours to be discussed with Hiring Manager)

Pay: $35.00–$50.00/hour DOE

About Us Kenai Aviation Training Academy (KATA) is a Part 141 FAA-certified flight school and a division of Kenai Aviation, a family-owned company rooted in Alaska’s aviation legacy. Our academy offers immersive, real-world pilot training using a growing fleet that includes Piper Tripacers (tailwheel and nosewheel) and a Piper Geronimo. Whether you're working toward your Private Pilot License or advancing to Commercial or CFI, we’ll help you get there.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs on piston-powered aircraft.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and avionics issues.
  • Comply with FAA regulations, 14 CFR Part 43, and internal procedures for safe maintenance practices.
  • Maintain accurate logbook entries and maintenance documentation.
  • Communicate and coordinate with flight instructors and operations staff to prioritize aircraft readiness.
  • Stay current through professional development and internal training opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Airframe and Powerplant Certificates (A&P)
  • Must meet 14 CFR §65.83 recency requirements or possess FAA waiver
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor Alaskan weather conditions
  • Available to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass TSA/FAA background check for airport badging
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Proficiency in using email and communication platforms

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in general aviation maintenance
  • Familiarity with Piper aircraft and small training fleet operations
  • Previous experience in 14 CFR Part 141 maintenance environment
  • Experience in aircraft fabric repair
  • Inspector Authorization (IA)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
