The F-16A/B/C or D Aircraft Mechanic Egress (AME) Air force Aircrew Egress System Specialist Technical School graduate mechanic performs organizational, intermediate and limited depot level maintenance to include inspection, operational test, repair, modification and troubleshooting on all assigned aircraft, components and equipment. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and to provide technical assistance, guidance and instruction to other employees as needed. Maintains assigned aircraft in accordance with Navy, and Air Force manufacturer and company distributors. Responsible for all egress system on and off equipment maintenance on F-16A/B/C or D models. Removes, transports, inspects, repairs and reinstalls F-16A/B/C or D ejection seats. Inspects, repairs and cleans seat harnesses. Inventories, stores, removes and replaces seat CAD/PAD explosive items Maintains environmental system on F-16A/B/C or D models. Maintains, inspects canopy explosive devices F-16A/B/C or D. Maintains and inspects on board oxygen generating system (OBOGS) or Liquid Oxygen (LOX). Performs aircraft scheduled/unscheduled on and off equipment maintenance. Performs aircraft corrosion control procedures to include wash, wipe down, polish and vacuum. Operates GSE, flight line vehicles and other support equipment as required. Drives tugs for the purpose of towing equipment and aircraft. Annotates maintenance actions in aircraft forms and VIDS/MAF System. Orders aircraft/equipment parts. Supervises/assists in aircraft/equipment movement and flight line foreign object prevention walks. Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention and safety at all times. Shall perform other job-related duties as may be assigned This classification activity is usually accomplished in a hangar/shop/flight line environment and as such requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with these activities. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Shall be qualified on ground support equipment applicable to the specialty. Shall be familiar with Navy technical publications. Minimum Requirements Capable of conducting on-the-job training and maintenance of Contractor personnel seat/cockpit safety checkout training records; and shall be experienced and qualified in the removal and replacement of ejection seats, canopies and explosive devices, both “I” and “0” levels.
