Description: This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills. Responsibilities: The Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions on aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneumatics, engines, axillary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems. This worker will read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Qualifications: Ability to travel 1-2 weeks at a time periodically / complete TDY assignments. Ability to make sound decisions when troubleshooting and maintaining avionics systems. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret schematics and IETMs. Maintain aircraft logbook forms and records. Experience using multimeters and other applicable tools. This position will support the F-35 Program at our MCAS Yuma, Arizona location. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Service Engineer (FSE) to serve as a Nose to Tail (NTT) expert, providing technical support and guidance to the USMC on-site customer. The ideal candidate will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Avionics/Mission Systems (MS) and Airframe Powerplant Generalist (APG)/Vehicle Systems (VS), with a strong foundation in Supportable Low Observable (SLO)/Structures. What You Will Be Doing Responsibilities: • As a member of the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Field Sustainment (AFS) team, the successful candidate will serve as the technical interface to the USMC on-site customer, providing expert guidance and support in resolving issues arising from maintenance and modification activities for the F-35 aircraft. This will include: • Collaborating with USMC customers to identify and resolve technical issues. • Providing expert advice and guidance on Avionics/MS, APG/VS, and SLO/Structures. • Troubleshooting and analyzing complex technical problems. • Developing and implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime and optimize aircraft availability. • Attend debriefings to aid in the rapid identification of emerging issues that require company intervention to avoid aircraft downtime. • Document all unusual operation / maintenance problems to ensure the company is apprised of and can identify emerging failure trends. • Provide training to customer personnel. Must be able to work and interact with the maintainer as well as the professional engineers from other F-35 companies as a peer. • Selected candidate must be willing and able to work second or third shift as needed. • Travel required; candidates must be willing and able to deploy with customer to possible hazardous duty locations. Long term deployments may be required both ashore and aboard Naval Ships. US Department of Defense (DoD) mandated vaccinations may be required. • Must be able to obtain F-35 Special Program Access.
