Job Description
Main Objectives
Responsible for the negotiation and administration of contracts covering the repair and maintenance services, including lease of aircraft spares required for aircraft maintenance, and for all invoices resulting from such contracts.
Responsibilities also include:
- Complete economic evaluation of bids received in a tender.
- Negotiation of commercial aspects under the bid with service providers.
- Finalization of commercial terms with the successful bidder.
- Handling contracts related to Technical Services, including:
- Aircraft acquisition.
- Aircraft lease-in and phase-out.
- Addressing claims during the lease period.
- Monitoring and controlling technical commercial issues during lease and redelivery of aircraft and equipment.
Main Duties
- Negotiate and administer technical contracts for aircraft maintenance, engine, and component overhaul.
- Analyze contracts for operational and economic impacts to finalize optimal deals.
- Maintain liaison with contracted MROs to ensure performance standards.
- Conduct economic evaluations with divisional controllers; finalize contract terms.
- Monitor in-house maintenance costs; suggest cost-saving initiatives.
- Prepare commercial maintenance quotations for third-party revenue.
- Evaluate and initiate new facilities like hangars.
- Evaluate new equipment and BFE during EIS of new aircraft types.
- Organize short-term engine leases outside existing contracts.
- Negotiate aircraft and equipment leases/purchases with maintenance considerations.
- Recommend acquisition of Gulf Air asset items (engines, components).
- Manage service agreements for service/spares procurement.
- Monitor service levels and TAT for engines and spares.
- Ensure procedural control for engine/component loans or leases.
- Support Finance Division in financial compliance.
- Provide technical inputs in major projects (equipment purchase, modifications).
- Participate in aircraft acceptance (new/leased).
- Manage end-of-lease aircraft returns.
- Recover compensation from performance guarantees under GTAs.
- Administer warranty, guarantee, and lease-related claims.
- Authorize invoices under maintenance contracts.
- Monitor department KPIs with SMs and follow up on action plans.
- Manage KPIs for subordinates and oversee performance management.
Education & Training
- A professional degree from a reputed institution (e.g., CPA, ACCA).
- Additional qualifications such as CIA are advantageous.
Experience
- 7–10 years in the technical division of an international airline.
- At least 5 years in a supervisory role within a Contracts & Projects Department.
- Preferred: Auditing skills and experience in aviation-related contract negotiation.
