About the role

PKL Services Inc. will be providing aircraft cleaning, washing, and organizational level (“O” Level) maintenance in support of squadrons within Marine Aircraft Logistics Squadron (MALS-24). Work will primarily be performed on MV-22 & C-130 aircraft at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.


The Aircraft Mechanic III (C-130 Airframes) performs scheduled/unscheduled maintenance on aircraft airframe, power plants, corrosion control and painting, electrical and related fuel systems for T/M/S/ aircraft hired to maintain. Also perform flight line essential services as directed by the daily Flight Schedule.


Additional duties include:

  • Wash and clean aircraft exterior and aircraft components utilizing high pressure wash system.
  • Performs pre/post wash lubrication and corrosion control of aircraft.
  • Leads a team in the performance of aircraft maintenance, inspections, and scheduled / unscheduled maintenance.
  • Supervise subordinate mechanics and provide technical guidance on maintenance operations on the airframe being supported.
  • Capable of performing, supervising, and inspecting the duties of Mechanic Is, IIs and IIIs.
  • Perform unscheduled aircraft maintenance in addition to hourly, calendar, phase, and conditional inspections as required by maintenance requirement cards.
  • Performs daily, preflight, turnaround and post-flight maintenance inspections to include other miscellaneous duties in the servicing of aircraft.
  • Perform Plane Captain duties if tasked.
  • Will be required to cross train on the MV-22 aircraft platform.
  • Repair sheet metal, structural, hydraulic and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions.
  • Make repairs to aircraft and follows direction of higher graded workers.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, pneudraulics.
  • Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.
  • Supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft, enter in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verify the work was performed satisfactorily.
  • Service airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition.
  • Specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and specialize in engine repair.
  • May be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration if not certified on a specific aircraft platform.
  • May require specialization in sheet-metal, composite repair or other aircraft systems related disciplines.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned by the Aircraft Site Manager.

About you,

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Shall be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Common Access Card (CAC) card privileges to ensure access to flight line workspaces and critical information systems.
  • Seven (7) years previous experience in troubleshooting and repair of which four (4) years of experience is required on the C-130 series aircraft or possess equivalent industry experience such as Airframes and Power Plants (A&P) or Federal Communication (FCC) license or greater. Experience on both V-22 and C-130 platforms preferred.
  • Within 90 days of hiring, applicants will be required to have the technical ability to qualify as a C-130 Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR).
  • Shall have completed the appropriate Navy Skills Specialty Class “C” school for their MOS/NEC/AFSC.
  • Prior Airframes personnel must show proof of completing the Aircraft Paint and Touch Up and “Aircraft paint/finish course or other military service equivalent courses or civilian equivalent courses. Powerplants personnel may require APU certification on either the MV-22 or C-130.
  • Experience performing structural repair utilizing sheet metal, fiberglass, and composite materials.
  • Thorough knowledge of corrosion control and aircraft painting techniques.
  • Must have and maintain a valid State Driver’s License.
  • If deemed by the Site Manager, this individual must acquire all Support Equipment licenses that are required for the position.
  • Will possess knowledge of the learning process and how to transfer technical knowledge to less qualified personnel, including the ability to express thought in both oral and written communications.
  • Shall perform requirements in a manner that meet or exceeds CNAFINST 4790.2 series, applicable Naval Aviation Maintenance Program Standard Operating Procedure (NAMPSOPs), Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRCs) and local NAMSOP instructions.
  • Knowledge of naval maintenance publications, maintenance requirement cards, and the ability to document maintenance utilizing the Naval Aviation Logistics Command Information System (NALCOMIS).

  • This is a full time/ non-exempt / Union position.
  • $560.00 hr. per pay period as a Health & Welfare benefit provided to support medical, dental, vision, basic life plans.

  • 4.31 paid PTO hours per pay period (112 annual).

Work Environment / Physical Requirements:

  • Will traverse into high noise workshop areas or near active jet aircraft operating ramps.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion.
  • This position requires normal physical functions. Work may require frequent bending, reaching, and climbing.
  • May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers.
  • May be exposed at times to moderate discomforts such as heat, cold, rain, wind.
